“TRANS*SENSIBEL” (trans*sensitive) PROJECT

The project “Trans*sensitive – Supporting caregivers of young trans people” (in German, trans*sensibel – Bezugspersonen junger trans* Menschen unterstützen) was launched in September 2021. This project covers the intersection between NRW’s Office for Trans Matters and the Queere Jugend NRW (Queer Youth) specialist office and cooperates closely with both teams.

Its goal is to support caregivers of young trans people and to help them create safe and empowering spaces where trans youth can explore their identities and live a self-determined life.

It provides the following services:
• Consulting, networking, training, and empowerment of professionals who work or want to work with young trans and non-binary people in the context of (semi-) residential child and youth care accommodations

• Support, empowerment, and networking for parents and (chosen) family of young trans and non-binary people, with the main focus on building and strengthening self-help structures

• Targeting group-specific events and workshops on general support and support structures for young trans and non-binary people.
